Decided to head to the beach this Memorial Day since kids were working. Went pretty well although it was cloudy most of the morning, it was warm and muggy. Water was very cold though. In afternoon, sun came out and it hit the lower 90s.

Weighed myself today and I appear to be about 3 pounds lighter since last week.

Watching the late news tonight and it appears a 12-year old girl is lost and apparently drowned at beach I was just at today.

Warm, muggy day. Went to a barbeque where some pig was roasting. So I had some hunks of pig meat and that was it for food (since breakfast).

Tomorrow I'm going to go the beach.

For some reason, feel very bloated and heavy despite not eating all that much.

Day started out cloudy but sun broke out around noon. Was caught up in pop-up thunderstorm during noon walk and was picked up by my son before I got drenched.

When I got home, it started raining again during the walk, getting the dog and myself drenched. On the bright side, the temperatures were rising during the day as a warm front approaches. It was 49 degrees this morning but was 61 degrees after nightfall. Tomorrow it should get into the 80s for the first time since about last October, or was it November.

Finally the sun broke out and it actually got springlike - into the mid 70s which was first time that happened this spring. But as sun was setting, temperature dropped right back into low 50s and it was freezing again. Younger son went to his prom tonight so wife and I had quiet night at home, watching Prison Break and reading.

Waterlogged

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Drinks: Coffee (200); Fuze (30); one glass wine (200)

Walked 8+ miles - single walk up and down Groton bike trail

Got a real good night sleep by going to bed around 10AM the night before. Felt good this morning and decided to take a long walk but as I was about halfway through it started raining. I was almost 4 miles from my car when it started pouring. Myself and dog absolutely drenched to bone and I only saved my iPod because I was wearing a light jacket that was water resistant.

The rains continued off and on the rest of day, washing out my planned second walk. However, I physically feel very good and full of energy after just about a full week on this new regimen.

Cooked a steak dinner on the grill and only had a relatively small slab for myself. Still, a decent chunk of beef that went down really well with the jalapenos, olive oil, asparagus and corn on cob.

Weather again unseasonably cold and the forecast calls for cold, clouds and rains for the foreseeable future.

Have a lot of reading I am trying to get done.

Another cold, damp day

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Breakfast: Stonyfield French Vanilla Yogurt (170); blueberries (50)

Lunch: King Oscar Sardines (150)

Dinner: Oatmeal (210); raisins (200); cashews (200)

Drinks: Two Fuzes (30); coffee (20)

Walked 12+ miles - 4 miles in morning, 4 miles in afternoon, 4 miles after work

Another cold, damp day, mostly in 40s and 50s. Heat still on in house.

Was a little hungry after work but the third walk and oatmeal took care of that. Already took in a belt notch on Day 3. Probably lost 5 pounds since Monday. Watched SNL episode 18 (Season 1) after work. Work was not too bad, so far, the week has been decent.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Lawnmower still broken

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Breakfast: Stonyfield French Vanilla Yogurt (150); blueberries (100)

Lunch: King Oscar sardines (150)

Dinner: Two hamburgers (600); two slices swiss cheese (200); two buns (200); jalapenos (30); olive oil (100)

Drinks: Two coffees (20); two Fuzes (40)

Walked 8+ miles - 4 mile walk in morning and 4 mile walk after work.

Day 2 of the new diet, surprisingly don't feel hungry at all yet. It was a cloudy, cold day with spotty drizzle at times. Temps in 40s and low 50s most of day. Heat is still on in the house. While we have had some mild days this spring, not a single day hot enough to open all the windows up and go outside in shorts. Work went surprisingly well once again. After several months of an insane pace, it is good to see things slow down a bit.

Had a very quiet night at home. Watched Season 1 - Episode 11 of SNL on the Netflix (Patti Smith Band musical guests). It is weird watching the early shows of SNL - hard to believe it was 35 years ago that these shows were airing - many of the people on those shows are dead today yet I remember watching them live when I was young.

Reading "Undaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose - about the Lewis and Clark expedition. Finished "Simple Plan" which is a lot different from the movie.

Losing Weight Makes Me Hungry

Monday, May 9, 2011

Breakfast: Stonyfield French Vanilla Yogurt (170); blueberries (100)

Drinks: One coffee (50); two Fuses (30)

Walked over 10 miles (4 miles in morning; 2+ miles in afternoon; 4 miles evening)

Spring is finally here to stay. Took leisurely drive to work this morning as almost all the trees are now in full bloom. Temps around 50 degrees and quickly rose into upper 60s by mid-morning. Decided to join contest at work to lose as much weight as possible in next 8 weeks. I intend to win contest.

270 pounds in morning.
