Woke just before 5AM at the Best Western in Winchester, VA after a fitful (barely five hours) sleep. Just couldn't wait to get on the road to head home so we skipped breakfast and kept our rest stops to a minimum. Rolled into my driveway just around 3:30PM. So good to be home.
Shortly after packing, I headed to the Whole Foods to fill my house up with real food. One thing about down South is that they are still about 20 years behind on nutrition. Their supermarkets are full of highly processed foods and poor quality meats and many of the foods I'm used to are nowhere to be found down there unless you are near major city like Atlanta. If you are into Oreo cookies, potato chips, packaged deli meats, etc., the South is the place to be. No wonder the obesity problem is even bigger down there than it is up here.
Anyway, the trip down South this year may well be my last for a while and for many other reasons than described above. Good to be back!
