Poured rain all last night and still coming down hard when I got up so had to scratch the morning walk entirely. More vivid dreams this morning but not nightmares like last night. Didn't get to bed as early as I wanted but I felt good in the morning and feel I've been getting much better sleep lately.
Had a very quiet work day at work up north - especially since my company's email server died at 9:45AM. Even now at 10:20PM, I still have no email! Made for a very strange workday.
After getting home, I saw that my car was towed to the local autobody shop. Damage doesn't look nearly as bad as it did on Sunday afternoon so that is very good news. With luck, I'll have my car back by this time next week.
During afternoon, the clouds started to break but never completely cleared. Temps never reached 70 either. But tomorrow it is supposed to get warm and humid and I'm looking forward to that!

Woke up around 3AM briefly and went back to sleep to very vivid nightmare. I dreamed there was a snake in the house attacking my dog and I was trying to hack it (the snake) with a knife and running around the house after it. Then the snake bit me and I woke up. Anyway, very tired again this morning and I thought it was going to be another day like yesterday. But as the day wore on, I started feeling much better. Especially since I heard from the insurance company that my car is not totalled and will be repaired shortly.
Day started out with some filtered sun by by late afternoon it cooled down dramatically and a heavy cloud cover prevailed. Forecast is for 2-3 inches of hard rain tonight so I got most of my walking in early. After about 8PM, rains started pouring down.
Had a quiet night and a lot of books building up to read. I think this coming weekend will see a lot of reading as I'm essentially without a car!

Well going to the beach has always been a good summertime tradition for me but I think those days are over now. Dealing with the traffic and the crowds makes it not as fun as it used to be at my age. The final straw was having a major accident on the way home today. After finally getting to the highway, the traffic was still very heavy and stop and go. I guess I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have because I smashed into the car in front of me as the traffic came to another halt. I don't even remember the point of impact, all I remember was my hood lifting up and the airbag going off. Not helping I'm sure was the fact that sitting in the hot sun made me kind of groggy. Fortunately nobody was injured but now I have days ahead of me of dealing with insurance companies and whatnot. Car isn't driveable so it got towed to a nearby body shop.
So I think I'm about done with the beach for the year! Things could have turned out much worse with the accident so I'll be thankful for that. Obviously golf never happened as I didn't get home until after the tee time so maybe I'll learn how to play golf on another day. Spent the rest of the night barbequing dinner and getting the cobwebs out of my head (from the accident).

Another warm, muggy day - about time. Wanted to mow lawn but never got around to it. I'll let it grow for another week. Had a quiet day around the house except my wife and I went to the driving range where we attempted to learn how to hit a golf ball straight. I hit a few balls 150 yards on the fly but it was a pretty pathetic showing overall. Tomorrow, I will be golfing for the first time of my life on a real golf course and only about an hour on a driving range of experience. Should be fun.

Slept in this morning as I was very tired. Went on 7 mile walk on Acton/Groton bike trail and caught a dozen deer flies on my hat strip. Got some decent books at the library including a new one on the recording industry which is quite interesting. Also got some Elvis Costello and Leonard Cohen CDs.
Rains moved in at night but should clear out by morning and I'm going to attempt Beach Day #2 for the year. A very good day overall.

First full day of having email on my mobile phone and this is going to be great. Got in the office this morning fully caught up on email. Took a long walk at lunch this afternoon and didn't have to rush to download email upon returning. As the email comes in, I quickly deal with it in real time and move on. In addition, everything is synced between my phone and my laptop, even calendar appointments, contacts, and such.
Today was second and last day of regional meetings. Should get back to normal workflow tomorrow. Weather was lousy once again but I was able to get two 4 mile walks in. When I got home tonight, it was in the 50s with drizzle! Seems the summer is passing us by this year.

After thinking summer had finally come to stay, I wake up to cloudy skies and as I started morning walk, the rain started and I was drenched by the time I returned. The workday was very unproductive as the VPs in the region came for a 2-day meeting and I was having email put on my new smartphone which caused laptop to get put out of commission much of day by the IT department as they had to load it up with special software.

Woke up at 5AM with decent amount of energy. The workday completely flew by and I ended up working at home well into the night. Went to Boston in afternoon to visit customer. Weather was sunny and warmed to low 80s despite a chilly start (was 56 this morning). Two long walks to bookend the day.
Get the sense that summer is finally here to stay.

Finally got out to the beach for this first time this year. Temps got into low 80s with not much humidity and aside from the winds, it was very comfortable and no sunburn. Didn't get any swimming done as the water is still too cold. But got a good amount of reading done including major chunk of a book about the early days of Apple Computer. Rest of day went by pretty quick and it's back to work tomorrow.

Thunderstorms about this morning so had to cut my walk short. It was so dark when I got to work that I had to turn my office lights on. Very heavy rains most of the day but was cooped up for a long meeting anyhow. Hit the dentist this afternoon and finally started the Independence Day weekend, driving home in the cool and drizzle (though skies were getting brighter towards sunset). Very cool for this time of year, low 60s and upper 50s all day. Tried new restaurant tonight...not too bad but nothing great either.

The first day of July and yet another dreary, cool day with heavy rains most of the afternoon. No sunlight whatsoever. I did get my walking time in but this is getting depressing - no real summer weather yet and it is already July. Tomorrow promises much of the same.
Not a very productive day at work either. Had my car fixed, got a haircut and did a lot of driving in between. Also, the battery on my new phone drained and shut off. I have to figure out why.
At least I feel pretty good today and have a lot of energy.
