Woke up in New Jersey, couldn't take my normal morning walk as I packed only suits, drove to Windsor, CT but got stuck in traffic in White Plains and was hour later getting there. Other than that, not a bad day at work. Went to retirement breakfast of top executive and he mentioned one of my emails in his going away speech. Never did make it to main office - got home a little early and took long walk to make up for missing my two earlier walks. Temperatures were mild today - upper 50s, but was back to mid-30s before bedtime.

Long, long day. Woke up at 5AM and took regular morning walk and then drove to New Jersey for company meeting (new fiscal year kick-off). Met new boss and many other people. Didn't get much walking done rest of day. Cold and windy anyhow. Didn't eat too much of what was offered but drank plenty enough to make up for it. Going to be a fun year of work coming up. BTW, meeting today was in same place we had annual meeting last year almost year ago at this time.

Got drenched in the morning walk today on the Groton-Ayer bike trail. Lost one pound this past week in the weekly weigh-in. Mostly drizzle and light rain most of day but some heavier showers moving in tonight. Raw and chilly, mostly upper 30s all day. I am definitely breaking my streak of 20,000+ step days tomorrow as I drive to New Jersey and have business meetings most of day. No way I'll be able to sneak out for a walk tomorrow afternoon, so I'll have to make the morning walk count.

Did some yard work and cleaned out the garage for spring as temps hit 61 degrees - before the seabreeze kicked in. Bought a suit for Monday's meeting in New Jersey. Another couple of decent walks and listened to three old Coverville shows. Downloaded new Neko Case and M. Ward albums. Got some reading done. Saturdays don't get much better than this.

On way home, bought some shirts and ties as it appears I'll be wearing them more. Didn't get my midday walk in so walked extra long tonight. Then worked all night and had virtually no time for myself.
Cold again this morning (19 degrees - just like one year ago today) but warmed into the 40s.

Heading out for the first walk this morning, felt run down again, in fact, was tempted not to do it at all. And the first walk (6 miles) was rather tough, still a lot of ice and snow in the Groton woods where I went. But by midday, I started feeling better and knocked off a 4+ mile walk in Nashua woods while waiting for dog to get groomed. Then another 3.5 miles with the dog when I got home to complete a 15 mile plus day. Tons of energy this afternoon.
Even the weekly weigh-in went better than expected. Down over 2 pounds from last week to 224.0 even though it still seems like I have a good-sized pot belly left to lose. I figure by running a 1,000-a-day calorie deficit, I will lose two pounds a week (7,000 calories = two pounds) and that formula has pretty much held true since beginning of year.
What did I listen to during all those hours of walking? About six episodes of vintage Coverville. I'm trying to listen to all 550+ episodes and only up to about episode 40. I figure it will take me at least a year to go through them all.
Weather is cool for this time of year and is turning downright cold tonight - should be in teens when I get up in the morning.

If I'm feeling the same tomorrow, I'm not weighing myself until Monday. After a quiet day, went out to dinner and had family gathering at night at home where I lit the fireplace and had three glasses of wine (after a beer at dinner). Read a good part of "Supermarket" by Satoshi Azuchi which is a Japanese book about a supermarket chain.

Didn't sleep a lot of hours last night but got up just the same (almost overslept) and took walk in the chilly air (mid 20s) but it did warm up near 50 in the afternoon. Definitely spring is on the way though I think we'll have plenty more cold, raw days between now and true spring. Took off from the office early and got a haircut and then took extra long midday walk along the Bedford rail trail. No official word on my new position yet but it's looking better every day - April 1 is the official day of the new structure. Listened to a lot of vintage Coverville episides today on the iPod. I'm trying to listen to all of them until I catch up to the present - on episode 34 (500+ episodes to go). Been eating more food last couple days but ratcheted down a little today. Want to drop a couple more pounds by Sunday.

Slept so deep last night I had nightmares (can't remember them) and woke up in middle of night. I never really woke up this morning, in a daze most of it, but had no problem getting my walking in. Got a stack of books from library to get through and not enough hours in day to read them all.
Weekly weigh-in is tomorrow and it doesn't feel like I lost any weight this week even though I maintained my level of exercise and ate pretty well. Although my body is pretty sore from all the walking, it is feeling much stronger. Belt is on the 28th notch and still feels comfortable.

Took long drive midday to New Hampshire ending up at Trader Joe's where I got some nuts, garbazano beans, black bean soup and other stuff.
After this taste of spring, supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow.

Slept late today and took long (almost 8 mile) walk through neighborhoods. Very warm today and snow melting very fast. Hit about 60 degrees and midday just had short sleeve shirt on. Very good day overall. We took youngest son to dinner to celebrate getting into college and gave dog a much-needed bath at night.

Much milder day today after a frigid week, got well into 50s and was already above freezing when I got up this morning (34 degrees). This entire week at work was quite slow, very strange. Also, it seems like I had a spurt of weight loss this week and I guess I'll know for sure when I get on the scales Sunday but it feels like I lost at least 5 pounds in past week. Lots of energy and feeling good.

It was zero degrees this morning for my walk. By time I got back, my legs and fingers were numb. I then spent the morning at dentist getting a cracked tooth repaired and capped. It appears that my work life is about to get a lot more complicated in the near future (but in a good way).

Got a good night sleep last night and felt good doing the morning walk at Harry Rich forest in Groton. Halfway through the walk, a light snow started falling. Not much snow fell today but a major storm is moving in around midnight and expecting 15 inches of snow tomorrow.
A little discouraging at the weekly weighing, actually gained 6/10ths of a pound since last week. But I think I might have some muscle building up from all the walking.
